Thank you to all Members for supporting the Newton’s 250th Salute to Service Parade! It was an amazing day and the crowd was just as great!

Remembering and Honoring all those soldiers, sailors, airmen who died for our Country’s Values and our personal Freedoms is so important. Please remember their mission continues every day. We owe them so much.

Look who joined us on the Parade! NEADS support dogs Chief and Bonnie. They thoroughly enjoyed being on the Post 440 float!

Thank you to all those that were able to bear the weather and helped with Newton Veteran’s Wreath Laying’s at the City Memorials on Sunday May24th.

Our last meeting of the Membership Year will be held on Tuesday June 2nd at 6pm. The Legionnaires, Auxiliary and the Sons will all have meetings that evening and then a group Chinese Buffet to follow.

 

The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 440 is glad to announce the following 2026 Girl’s State attendees: Caitlin Bardorf of Wellesley and Lucy Pearlman of Needham. The two Juniors will attend MA Girl’s State at Stonehill College from June 12 to June 16.

Our ALA 2026 Scholarships are awarded to Samantha Spiegel, NSHS and Vivian Downes, NSHS.  Our merit award winner is Paige Taylor, NSHS. 

The Recognition and Award Dinner will be held on Thursday, June 25th, 6pm-9pm, at Nonantum Post 440.

ELVIS will be back in the house for our Post “We need a new roof” Fundraiser on Saturday June 27th, Doors open at 7pm & show begins at 8pm.  $40pp   Cash bar, bring your own snacks. Tickets available through Al Cecchinelli at 617-308-1659 or Ginny Gardner 617-721-1062. This sells out fast!!!

And… The Summer Fun Night at the Post 440 will be Saturday, August 1st, from 7pm-11pm. Wear your Hawaiian shirts and skirts and dance to Oldies 103 DJ Mike Callahan. $15pp, admission includes pizza, bites and lite refreshments.   

 


Q: I am related to someone who served on active duty during one of the membership eligibilty dates. Can I join the Auxiliary of The American Legion?


A: If your relative who served on active duty during one of the membership eligibility dates and is a member of The American Legion, you may join the American Legion Auxiliary of The American Legion.


However, if the qualifying Veteran is deceased you may join the appropriate organization, even if the qualifying Veteran was not a member of The American Legion when living.

Contact your local American Legion Auxiliary Unit, complete the application and proudly join the AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY.
